Want to give something other than chocolates and roses this Valentine’s Day?
Hi All, so Christmas is over, New Year’s has come and gone and Australia Day…well maybe you’re still recovering from it. So what’s next to look forward to? Highlighted on my calendar (in bold red pen!), only about 2 weeks away….Valentine’s Day!!
Being the curious sort of person that I am, I delved into the history of this day and found out that its believed to be linked to when Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families. He outlawed marriage for young men. At the time, there was a priest named Valentine serving during the 3rd century in Rome, realising the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. An imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl (possibly his jailor’s daughter), who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today.
Ok, power, death, love, it’s got it all and so here we are today, thinking what can I give that special someone to let them know that they have our heart in their hands? Good question and thankfully I have a suggestion. (how lucky!! lol) Now its not a balsamic, it’s not olives, it’s not cheese, although they are all yummy things to enjoy on the day. Its our Stackable, but not filled with peppercorns, olive oil or vinegar but with little yummy tokens of love. Candy Hearts, “Lifesavers” (obviously) and musk lollies, all symbols of the day and guaranteed to win the heart of whoever you give this to. Not only that, once you both have enjoyed the treats inside, the Stackable is ready to be used as it was originally intended (see suggestions on our website).
We are making a VERY limited number of these, available now online only, cutoff date February 8th. Don’t say we didn’t give you any ideas! lol
